Course Description
These units of study develop your skill set in assisting with medication administration. To be eligible you need to hold a Certificate III or IV qualification in an area involving provision of direct client care or support.

Skills Set Units:
HLTAAP001 Recognise Health Body System
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to work with basic information about the human body and to recognise and promote ways to maintain healthy functioning of the body. This unit applies to any worker who needs to use and interpret information that includes references to client anatomy and physiology.
HLTHPS006 Assist with Client Medication
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to prepare for and provide medication assistance, and complete medication documentation. It also involves supporting a client to self-administer medication. This unit applies to community services and health workers with authority in their state or territory to assist with the administration of medication.
Skill Set Outcome:
Candidates that will be deemed competent in this skill set will receive a Statement of Attainment, mentioning that “these competencies from CHC Community Services Training Package meet industry requirements for work in providing support to people in home and community settings”.
Work Placement Requirement:
To gain this skill set, part of the assessment’s methods, you will need to have access to an Aged Residence or Disability workplace for a minimum of 20 hours .
